A Young Adult Program for Young Men Struggling with Addiction
Transitions of Galveston Island is an 8 to 12-month young adult program that provides young men 18 and older a sober college living experience. Our three-phase, 12-Step-based community is designed for young men struggling with substance abuse or other addictions. Our young adult program includes: self-discovery, drug addiction education, relapse prevention, life skills, academic and vocational education, emotional/personal growth, and career development. TGI helps young men transition from residential treatment centers, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, wilderness programs, and therapeutic boarding schools to stable independence. At the heart of TGI is the core belief that honesty, integrity, respect, and responsibility lie within each of us. By building a solid foundation out of these attributes, we strive to transform everyday habits into healthy, lasting lifestyles. Our young adult program focuses on identifying the student’s strengths and passions with the goal of identifying college degrees of focus and vocational abilities to enhance career pathways. We also focus on life skills needed to enter and finish school, acquire and retain a job, and cope with the daily stresses of life. Since every student brings a unique talent and passion that is the foundation of their strengths and focus, our mentors and therapists work together to design a plan which is customized to meet their specific needs. TGI provides a supportive community that enables each student to learn responsibility and accountability to himself and others as he transitions to drug independence. |
