Backpack/Tank Bag for Motorcycle?

Hello,
I was wondering if you guys/girls can answer this question for me. I’m starting classes again next month and was wondering whether a regular backpack will be fine for a sports bike(Honda Cbr F4I). I was thinking of one that has the strap that goes around the waist, or do you think i should get a tank bag. I will need one to hold at least 2 or 3 text books and 1 or 2 note books. Would prefer not to have a giant thing on my tank and in my way. Also i plan on carrying my helmet around/locking it to the bike and I don’t wear any special pants/boots(I know it’s not the safest but i don’t travel far), so no need for a special place for them. I wear a backpack all the time. I commuted to and from school for 2 years with one, no problems….even got into an accident wearing one, and it probably helped cushion my fall because it had a blow up air bladder in it for comfort. I still use one whenever I need to pack stuff. Tank bags arent made to carry around off the bike.
